ARTIST’S STATEMENT FOR MONOTYPES

I use multiple mediums for these monotypes: printing inks, acrylic inks, digital collage, collage painted/created for this body of work, and mixed media. My matrix is heavy Japanese bamboo paper, with soft and silky surface and steely inner strength. As the work progresses, the image grows gradually from the center out and becomes more complex, but in a controlled way. The process, during which the balance keeps shifting between control and growth, can take some time as my mind creates and recreates the final composition.
